To me this song speaks of a good time turned bad (see it turn to rust), and a struggle to come to terms and accept what has come to pass for the lyric writer. After looking at the phrase "Strong words in a ganges sky, I have to lie, Shadows move in pairs" it strikes me that the there is allusion toward imprisonment, perhaps a reference to where prisoners are shackled together, and inmates keep themselves to themselves. A second experience seems to be born in the later words of the song, where the songwriters speaks of being broken minded, and to myself that speaks of mental illness, so where I have mention imprisonment above, it could be that patients of an aslyum are known to pair together in a smoking area. |
