Whether intentional or not, this song has a clear libertarian message. "I won't justify the way I live my life 'cause I'm the one livin' it feelin' it, tastin' it..." The whole original purpose from the founders of the US was to value individual liberty, the right to live for your own sake, above all else. With all of our intervention into everyone's behavior through dictating what you can or cannot put into your own body to what kind of transportation you can use, we have become a society of busy bodies intent on running everyone the lives of everyone else while we screw up our own. This trend has been building since the early 2oth century but has accelerated greatly in the last 20 years. "I remember when it used to be easy, I remember when it wasn't so hard" This is a great song! |
