| Hurt – Et Al Lyrics

A lot of the lyrics are wrong here...first as a couple people mentioned, It's "Et al" not "At all"
Second, "Before mentioned" In the stanza with "Dance puppet boy" Is "Aforementioned"
If you listen to Hurt, you'll see that they do this a lot. I don't remember what it's called, but I know lots of bands do it, where they'll choose words that sound like something else....it still makes sense, but it adds more meaning to the song when you can look into it from all different directions. Hurt also loves to play with their lyrics and make it a game. This was proven when I received my copy of "The Crux." The CD is heat sensitive and reveals a the decoding for a code they had put in their record. They like to keep their fans entertained. Which is why they hold the spot in my heart for my favorite band. |

| Poets Of The Fall – Illusion & Dream Lyrics

I agree with Anoreo more than anyone else that commented. I personally don't have much interest in government...so it never really even crossed my mind to be about...the power of government and such. I can see what you guys are saying though.
Good writers make songs be relatable in many different ways. That's why analyzing songs are so difficult, you only relate to what you know. Whether it be a relationship, government, media.
I don't think this song is about the "what" though. That's why the title is Illusion and Dream. The writer isn't putting emphasis on "they" but the outcome. Realize what's real and what's illusion, because what "they" are portraying is dishonest. So yeah, it can be the government. But the listener has the power to use it how they need, maybe a hard relationship to grasp, dreams that he or she looses, a change in their life that they can't cope with. It's the power of song.
Lastly..."With silence comes peace, with peace comes freedom, with freedom comes silence." I don't agree that freedom brings silence, if anything it's the opposite... |

The lyrics basically say that, but you can't look at the lyrics that literally. Even if that is what he was saying, that's not the goal of the song. First thing in analyzing is finding the authors goal, and then use the quotes to represent that goal-which is where we get expressing yourself, holding yourself, your colors soaking through-perhaps affecting others. "Hold your colours against the wall, when they take everything away" When you get pushed down..stay yourself, be true and strong within yourself. The knife itself has symbolism, but you can't take that as death. More strength than death. |

To make your statement true, you need to back it up by the quotes. Why cancer? What lyric suggests it's for a kid? "All the days of my life that I could have done something more" Is a lot more open ended than what you're suggestingxD |

Yeah, but that's only the beginning. The reality may be that his loved one is gone, but the love is always around. That's why the lyrics repeat "It's always around" so many times. That's also why the whole song is explaining what love is. -The mood of the song isn't sad, it's...reassuring. It's a feeling of content with the love that he feels. |

| Hurt – Alone With The Sea (Volume 2 Version) Lyrics

La Femme...I couldn't disagree more. Maybe authors like Stephenie meyer can't think up any metaphorical value, but Hurt, they're completely different. Every song of there's has a surface meaning, but every song has a deeper meaning that you can't deny.
He's not a sailor at sea, therefore there has to be another meaning, it may not be as deep as some say, but in all...A song means what it does to the listener, it means something completely different for the writer, everyone has different experiences, therefore this is going to come off deep or simple to the listener. |
