I think this song could be about slavery. The mentioning of the days could mean the days of hard labour and 'to the rescue here I am' refers too all his music in general about getting out of slavery. On a related note, I totally love the music it's like a strobe light effect but with music! |

the instrumentation is gangsta. its all short phrases and gaps but all the instruments fill in the gap. its like woah different.. kinda sounds like something going up and then dropping like little bouncy ball haha mean. |

key words in this song is WE and Dem.. someone will have to pay for the innocent blood THEY shed everyday... hmm let me see is it WE or is it DEM that will have to pay?
musically its a great song. sads sounding chorus then sounds like theres some reassurance in the verses then back to the we and them dunno how to work it out repeated fade out.. kinda depressing cos it doesnt come back to the reassurance. hmm dont mean to sound all serious but its great. the 2 following songs on the album ressure this one. work and zion train :) |

3 little birds are actually angels. the last line in the song goes.. this is my message to you.. the following song on the exodus album is.. ONE LOVE ONE HEART LETS GET TOGETHER AND FEEL ALRIGHT. (thats the message of the angels)
try to look at the whole body of work rather then just one song on the album cos they usually all link together some how.. kinda like scenes in a movie.. ohh and the previous song is turn your lights down low ( night time) and the now rise up this morning smile with the rising son (next day/ morning) |

To me, this song is a play on words. dont treat me like a puppet on a string could mean like.. listen to my messages of unity and peace dont treat me like puppet on a string. the part where he says, its been three years since im knocking on your door and i still can knock some more. could be im trying to deliever my message and i can continue to do so. I dont particularly like love songs but if i can make the words interpret a different meaning then i like it. |
