i love mcr so much! i can't even begin to pick a favorite but this is pretty high up on my list! i feel that this song is about being knocked down on ur ass by life! it's about all the hardship and pain a person goes through (in the case of this song, it would be the band mcr and more specifically gerard way) gerard struggled with alcohol and drug abuse during the band's early career and even went through a bit of a suicidal phase, but this song talks about how to move on from past mistakes. "Well after all, we'll lie another day And through it all We'll find some other way To carry on through cartilage and fluid And did you come to stare, or wash away the blood?" that whole verse talks about moving on. it says to wash away the bad and move on with life. or else you will just be stuck "rocking out just for the dead" meaning your life will either be wasted or ended one way or another. it has a dark feeling to it, but the message itself is very motivational and powerful |

maybe i'm completely off here, but I've always sort of had the feeling that this song was about suicide. i mean, yes i know that it is suppose to be based off of dawn of the dead, but still the whole "But does anyone notice? But does anyone care? And if I had the guts to put this to your head, And would anything matter if you're already dead? And now should I be shocked by the last thing you said? Before I pull this trigger" and so on... and the part "I fought them all off just to hold you close and tight" makes me picture a man holding his true love close to him. he wants to keep her safe, but he feels like he maybe can't do that, maybe she is unhappy with her life and wants to die, and this man, her love, kills her so that she can be happy, but he hates himself for it and kills himself as well so that they may be together forever. then later in the album, demolition lovers has that same kinda feeling about dying side by side with the one you love. idk. i'm not saying that what this song is necessarily about but that's what i picture when i hear it. |
