| Ida Maria – Keep Me Warm Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| i think this song is about how she's been screwed over and hurt in the past, so she's used to doing the same to others. but now shes with this new person, and they feel so right. he keeps her warm when she feels cold inside. but shes afraid she'll mess it up, or even that he'll end up hurting her too. so even though she has someone to keep her warm, she's lonely and finds that same warmth through her "friends," coffee and cigarettes. | |
| Coldplay – See You Soon Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This song, to me, is about a long distance relationship. It's about wanting to hold that person so badly and to want that friend but you just can't have them in that way at that moment. It's about waiting for that moment when you're together. It's about when you're apart and you find yourself thinking of them constantly, wondering what they're doing and who they're with. It's about the slow deterioration of the relationship that started out so strong. It's about thinking of the relationship as an experience that you can always look back on, even if it didn't end up too well. It's about knowing that person will always be there in your mind no matter what. | |

| I love this song because it sounds so happy but if you listen to it right, it should make you cry. | |

I think this song is about growing old and trying to find yourself. "I walked across an empty land I knew the pathway like the back of my hand I felt the earth beneath my feet Sat by the river and it made me complete" The singer is all alone and he's been down this road before, it sounds like several times. This is the road of figuring out who you are. He is aware of his surroundings and the beauty of everything but isn't sure where he fits in. "Oh simple thing where have you gone? I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin" He misses the simplicity of childhood and the instinct of just blindly trusting anyone. He needs someone to love and rely on, and he needs to be let in so that he can begin his journey in finding out who he really is. "I came across a fallen tree I felt the branches of it looking at me Is this the place we used to love? Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?" I think the fallen tree is a girl who is lost just like him. He realizes she could be the one, she could be the girl who restores his happiness and dreams from his childhood. "And if you have a minute why don't we go Talk about it somewhere only we know? This could be the end of everything So why don't we go Somewhere only we know?" He needs to be alone with her, in a place where they can't be told what to do. In this place that only they know, other people can't ruin what they have. There is no fight over religion or power, so they can love each other in the way love is supposed to be. So basically, he wants to get away from the corruption of the world and find true love. He wants to find it in a girl who is in the same position as him so they can find themselves together. |

| Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think this song is just about a loved one, not necessarily someone in a relationship. But yeah, it's about saying goodbye and knowing you'll love them unconditionally, no matter what ever happened between them, and no matter how long or far they leave, it'll be just like they're together. | |
| Never Shout Never – Sacrilegious Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Sunday mornin' wake up early, Skip church service to find my Jesus. I know it sounds so sacrilegious, But I just don't belong in a place like that. I love the cause but not the act. 'Cause Jesus was a friend and not a judge. He loved the sinners as much as he loved the little ones. That man was love and not an act. I sing Hallelujah; Hallelujah, I'm set free. OBVIOUSLY this song is about a boy who does believe in something, and does want to be remain faithful, but he is against organized religion, because a lot of organized religions are corrupt and, well, bad. I've experienced this firsthand as well. Jesus loves everyone, and he tries his best to accept everyone. I think it's wrong for churches to call certain types of people sinners and treat them unequally, especially gays/lesbians/bisexuals, etc. He just wants to believe in something without having to blame other people, so he'll find his own way to believe in what he wants. |

| Arcade Fire – City with No Children Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Personally, whenever I listen to this song (or the entire album, for that matter) a recurring theme is nostalgia and the pain in growing up. "The summer that I broke my arm I waited for your letter I have no feeling for you now Now that I know you better" In this verse, he is talking about when he was younger and when he waited around for someone for a whole summer. Now that he's older, he knows better than to sit around and wait for a girl, and he realizes that he was never really interested in her. Perhaps puppy love? "I wish that I could have loved you then Before our age was through And before a world war does with us Whatever it will do" To me, the "world war" is really just the war that the entire world faces: growing up and losing yourself. He wishes that they could have been together when they were young and naive, because now he is cynical and he feels like the time has passed and he is too old to experience love like that. "I feel like I've been living in A city with no children in it A garden left for ruin by a millionaire inside Of a private prison" Now that he's older and living in the city, he has figured out the way it works: the rich run everything. He feels like there is no more childlike hopefulness in his city, and everything beautiful is in ruin. The singer thinks the millionaire that is running everything is stuck in a private prison because the singer knows that money can't buy happiness. "You never trust a millionaire Quoting the sermon on the mount I used to think I was not like them But I'm beginning to have my doubts My doubts about it" This part reminds me of J.D. Salinger's The Catcher In The Rye. Like Holden, the singer has always tried to be different than everyone else, and has thought of himself as a nonconformist (not a "phony," as Holden would say). Now, he is seeing himself through different eyes and he can see that he really is just as bad as the people he has always bashed. I also think it's about how famous people try to preach their beliefs to other people, and how it's wrong. "When you're hiding underground The rain can't get you wet Do you think your righteousness Can pay the interest on your debt? I have my doubts about it" I feel like this is about when people are so religious that they close themselves off from the world, or "hiding underground." They are hiding from the "rain," or the corruption of the world. They try to stay innocent and pure, and they reprimand others for their beliefs. The singer is telling them that they aren't any better than anyone else, even if their religion tells them so. "I feel like I've been living in A city with no children in it A garden left for ruin by a millionaire inside Of a private prison" By the end of this, I feel this last chorus is about how he feels everyone is growing up too fast in the world, and there aren't any children left. The world is filled with fighting over religion and money and power and now the beautiful garden is left in ruin by the millionaires. |
