| John Denver – Perhaps Love Lyrics

I heard an interview saying this was a B-side. A DJ in Philadelphia played it by mistake and was flooded with calls. Nobody thought a duet with an opera star like Placido Domingo would be popular. enough to get airplay. They were wrong. If I'm wrong on this, please correct me. Beautiful song. |

Favorite John Denver song. Lyrics are straightforward and self-evident. It was beautifully used in last episode of Magnum P.I.'s 7th season. |

The lyrics are pretty straightforward and obvious. My father discovered Roger Whitaker on a trip to the UK and brought his albums home. This song was his favorite. He was a Vietnam vet and had tremendous survivor's guilt all his life. Aside from being beautifully written and performed, I think he really connected with the sentiment of the lyrics. Every time he left home, it was an adventure to say the least. "Those who have seen war will never stop seeing it." -- Joe Galloway. |

We dissected these lyrics line by line, word by word in a college history class. The professor did an excellent job opening a window to life in the US in the 1950s and 1960s. |

@[hopeandunderstanding:19156] I think you're right on the money. When you hear it as a kid and a teenager you can feel the hurt but through life experience you really get it. Well done. |

Sad song about not being a kid anymore. When life events hit they shake you to the core and you realize life's answers aren't so obvious anymore. I got in touch with this song again when my father passed away and suddenly the man with all the answers wasn't there anymore. |

Was first introduced to this song back in the late 1980s on the old "Sunday Brunch" show on VH1. It opened a whole new window of music to me. I've been a Pat Metheny fan since. |

It's about taking a stand and not being content to be a witness in life. It's like being the kid in high school who's friends with all the pretty girls but gets no action. They say 'he's so nice' and pat him on the head as they're on their way to get with the bad boys. |

"I'll take my chances babe, I'll risk it all. I'll win your love or I'll take the fall." Great line delivered with Bob Seger passion. I've had my heart stomped and I've won the girl; haven't we all? That's how we know we're alive! My favorite Seger song. |

Great song about making the most of your modest means. We don't have the money to some exotic locale in the tropics, so we'll stay at some local dive (Coconut Grove), pretend the sign says "Jamaica" and drink cheap (hillbilly) beer. Who hasn't felt this way? Linda Ronstadt's voice is perfect. |

I put this song on my iPod just before my wife was diagnosed with melanoma; I thought about the worst-case and how much I've enjoyed our life together. Sorta gives the lyrics a whole new meaning. That was 8 years ago and all's well so far thankfully. But this song still reminds me of that awful summer of 2003. |

I believe it's a song about the punk scene of 1970s London, where it was hard to separate the hooligans from the pre-hipster hipsters. Some are harmless posers and some pretty dangerous thugs. I think the werewolf reference is a metaphor. Awesome song. |

Heartbreaking lyrics. I heard his interview on NPR about this recording. He said he'd be exhausted and fall asleep on the couch. Each time he woke up he looked around, wondering if he'd died in his sleep; the pain reminded him he was still alive. |
