I really do understand the meaning of this song because ive been there. It is about being addicted to heroin.When it says "Cuz so many times you've come to me cry crying trying to stop you said it hurt so bad But please don't let you go back for more" it is describing the withdraw. Heroin withdraw is one of the most painful and aweful things a body can go through and the only thing that makes it better is more of the drug, and thats why it is so hard to stop. When on that kind of a drug one will do anything to aquire it. This song is about someone trying to quit and not being aible to. The fact that she used "little sister" just means to me that it is someone who she cares greatly for and someone who perhaps looks up to her. I love the way Jewel incorperates other problems in sociaty that connect greatly to drug problems and relates them to eachother because they are indeed truly connected. |
