I think it's a song about his inside world.
I also believe the lines "If we dissolve without a trace, will the real world even care?" are sort of commenting on his sort of introverted-ness, like some people in the world wouldn't care if a person just disappeared forever because we're so caught up in everything. |

This is a prelude into "Galaxies", it's a clip from the 1986 Challenger speech given by Ronald Reagan, then the song "Galaxies" is a song about how a person in the Challenger Disaster would feel, "going from this life into eternity," as described by Adam. You can tell they're sort of the same song, ish, by the similar melody of the "da da da" in Galaxies and the "ahahahahahhhhh" in this song, and the buildup at the end of this song into "Galaxies" and the similar effect underneath this song at the end of "Galaxies." Lovely parts of the speech. |

The non-rap version of this song sort of has a totally different meaning, but the song supposed to mean taking the most difficult situations head-on with exuberance, because we never know what tomorrow, or the very next second even, will bring. |

This song reminds me of a quote from this book I was reading, about a guy who'd suffered a terrible accident and had to be in a wheelchair like this song suggests... "You could spend the rest of your life learning how to walk again, or you could spend the rest of your life living." When you suffer "the car crash of the century", you probably won't be able to do some of the things you'd been able to do physically before, so you probably are finally relieved to be done with comparisons to other people, now you can focus on what you really want to do. |

It's sort of like seeing the beauty all around you, and the person in the song is trying to explain the beautiful things that happen to him through surreal beings, by trying to prove there are angels all around. My favorite line of the whole album: "The indications reveal / That few of us realize life is quite surreal". I love how he goes up to the next octave in the 2nd/3rd etc. chorus. :) |

Anyway, I dance a lot to this song, and the lyrics are a different direction for him. The lyrics are funny:

Ahh, love Lights and Owl City, so glad they did this song together! It was perfect for Lights's voice, too. Definitely a song about having difficulty with the opposite gender, sort of like Deer in the Headlights but with a different vibe to it, like giving up sort of and the other person being oblivious to it all whilst "Deer" is sort of about trying but failing.
I love the synth solo in the middle. |

I love how this is a song about falling in love with someone and yet it's so hilarious... "I would make like a tree and leave." CLASSIC, lovely Owl City with the new touch with the guitar in the bridge.
I was cracking up when he said "I swear there's a lot of vegetables out there."
