I believe this is about Jobriath, who is also sang about later in the album. "A falling star wished upon" both refers to the fact that he wrote about outspace, as well as that he was a rockstar he faded away, or fell. More evidence this theory is in the lines "To see the man in bright green." because he showed up to an interview in a giant bright green bodystocking. And his words and music are calculated, not really about anything, but rather made to have people listen to it. Anyway, this is also a general statement about the authenticity of lyrics. Great song. |
