This IS an anti war song. It is NOT about drugs and it does literally mean dancing. In a way... He's saying that he's forced to use guns and violence to protect himself and that this took his innocence. That "the soldier" had to give up his hopes and dreams to fight in a pointless and endless war. Not one specific war but every war ever fought or that ever will be fought. |

@mewjessica1777 - I know or a fact it is not "to keep myself among" it is "to keep myself from harm" the "among" was created as a story by Damon so a child's chorus director would allow them to sing it, because "to keep myself from harm" supposedly "promoted gun violence" |
