This song is about ego. Straight forward for me as unfortunately I've been in the woman's place (although I'm a man). They went out. The woman in the song loved him much more than he loved her (or thought he loved her). Then they broke up and he felt relieved as he didn't really love her. The woman in the song is still in love with him but is so sick and hurt from the games he played her she cuts him off completely which is the only way to really get over someone. His ego then suffers a blow because what does she mean she never wants to see or talk to him again?? She said they could still be friends! (we all really say that but never mean it..) This song is still amazing, taking the douche-bag side of the story and making him the "hero" of the song. |

| I think it's pretty straight forward.. Your heart is bleeding and you're so heart broken and torn you prefer to hurt your body to numb the real pain inside your heart and soul. Perhaps the only thing that's open for interpretation is the way you hurt yourself. Self inflicted? Starting random fights with people? Drug and alcohol abuse? anything goes I guess. | About love and it's difficulties and overcoming them but not giving up and not breaking up because you love each other and want to be together. He rarely says he loves her (rarely shows affection) but he does. She can treat him like a shit sometimes but he still loves her. Trees are swaying, sky is coming down and so on.. are the metaphors for troubles along the way of the relationship. At the end they made it to some shelter (they stay together) but the power's going out (there will always be troubles..) but he loves her no matter what. | |

| I know this (awesome) band is a lot about god and such but this song somehow looks like it's about a broken heart and misery that follows. The first sentence is amazing IMP - "I use to see a million colors and now the only one I see is used" - He used to be able to go out with a lot of women and wasn't emotionally attached to anyone but now he has fallen in love with a women who is already taken. (therefore the only color he sees now is used). The rest of the song describes his sufferings (sleepless,heartaches and so on) | |

This song is about break-up of a couple that still love each other but understands their relationship is not working (i think the woman is the one to break up with him) and now, the man tries to get over it while trying to feel these familiar feelings that he felt with his former loved one. the parts where he says "i felt loved last night... ...but made things so much worse again" are the parts where he possibly dated other woman and thought that he feels something but it wasn't, and only made him feel bad. the part where he sings "i know you said you'll miss me.. ..cause time is a like a wave.." he realize that time makes us get over things in life and even if she says she'll miss him, he knows after a while she'll get over him. the part where he sing "i know i said i'll see you when it get to new year...." he wanted to see her again sometime "but now that all the rain stopped falling" - he is over her and stopped crying about her. now he just wants to move on and not go back to those bad places he's been in. the part of "i know i'de be welcome but tell me how far....i've buried my key" is a bit shady to me, but i see it as if they did meet up again and he feels his heart beating, he knows he still loves her, he knows she doesn't but he just wants to be with her and don't care about his pride. he thinks he's (or maybe he is) not good enough for her and thats it.. amazing song. truly amazing.. btw, i was super stoned when i listened and thought about all the meaning of this song so maybe i got it all wrong but it had a huge impact on me so i had to write it down. |
