to ad to my last post, the following verse, as I relate it to my life, means: "As it withers" - the young naive relationship withers when the endorphins caused from being in love start to fade thus exposing real life and the flawed world around you... "Brittle it shakes" - As it nears the end, the truth OR doubt that maybe it wasn't meant to be begins to surface and rattle the nerves... "Can you whisper" - may refer to the feeling of doubt or questioning of the truth. If you whisper it won't be fully verbalized and maybe it won't be true... "As it crumbles and breaks" - you can only continue with the charade so long until it eats away at you until you finally have to face the reality that maybe the relationship is over...at least for now... "As you shiver" - Once you face reality, you shiver at the fact that you have to begin again and rebuild who you are from scratch...a daunting task... "Count up all your mistakes" - After you have gotten over the realization that life as you know it is no longer, you begin to rehash everything that went wrong that you either need to work on inside of yourself so the next time you can give yourself fully to your partner... "Pair of forgivers" - in order to do the last step, you have to forgive the other person for their flaws, but most importantly, you must forgive yourself... "Let go before it's too late" - once you are able and ready, you MUST let go, before the rest of life passes you by and the next thing you know you have missed your life and live in a world of regret and resentment. Not only does letting go free YOU from the pain, but it releases the other person from the shackles of your pain and resentment. "Can you whisper Can you whisper Can you whisper Can you whisper" - Once you can let go, you can once again let the calm of loving yourself and loving life in to your soul. With inner calm comes inner quiet. And sometimes all it takes to be heard is a whisper amidst the quiet. |

@lyricaljoy, you make a lot of great points, but the verses that you say you aren't quite sure about are very well explained by @Ghost[777]. I have recently gone through this exact scenario where my Gf and I were together for 5 years, full of hope for the future and loved each other so tragically, but had so many issues within ourselves that need to be worked out that the future of that love seemed bleak. As I understand it and apply it to my life, "The bittersweet between my teeth" refers to the words that you hold in when you don't want to admit out loud that the relationship is over...at least for the time being...You clench your teeth to keep the bittersweet truth from coming into the world and being verbalized thus making it real... "Trying to find the in-betweens" to me refers to the point after the verbalization that it is over, at least for now...and you search to find 1) the person you are as an individual and 2) the loves or filler relationships that you go through before you can be whole as an individual. Once you are whole, you may, or may not... "Fall back in love eventually"... Yeah yeah yeah yeah" By the way @lyricaljoy, I wish I had at your age the insight that you have...maybe I wouldn't be figuring all this out at 30 and I could have had a jump on the game. |
