The Christ metaphor is pretty self-explanatory. Obviously people didn't take showers, shine shoes, or use guns in Jesus' time, but they did during the Civil War! It uses a Civil War (or some other more recent war) General as a SYMBOL of Christ. They don't intend to literally describe Jesus.
And yeah, it's probably an anti-war message as well. But I would find it hard to believe that Dispatch DIDN'T think about Jesus and his crucifixion when writing this song. |

props for finding the biblical message in the song, but I definitely don't think the "open book" in the song is referring to the bible at all. he says "when your heart was an open book" - he wouldn't say your heart was the bible. |

No one is born obese, or an alcoholic. Some people have genes that make them prone to these lifestyles. that that doesn't mean they should decide that, since they have those genes, they shouldn't try to stay in shape, or stay away from alcohol. The same applies to gay people.
You wouldn't say to an alcoholic, "you go sober, and I'll become a drunk." you wouldn't say to someone who is obese, "you lose weight, and I'll get fat." That's not how it works.
So no, Daez, we won't sacrifice our moral standards in order to help you, but we'll do whatever else we can. |

Well, Brad Paisley and I agree with Logan. None of us our homophobes or assholes. Obviously we all sin - this doesn't mean we should sin more often, or that we shouldn't try not to! axylove, if "who the hell doesn't sin" is the philosophy you follow, you might as well tell people to lie, steal, murder, cheat, etc. and If you all honestly believe the Bible does not forbid homosexuality, you have been severely misled. no one is born gay. There's a reason it used to be legally considered a mental disorder. so, be offended if you must. if you are gay, you have a problem. it's not incurable, but it is a serious problem. |
