like all songs, this song is ambiguous. these lyrics can be interpreted to suit the emotions and personal experiences of every one of you guys, including me. this song is a very gentle and fragile song, with very deep and vulnerable lyrics reflecting the emotional fragility of anyone who has lost a partner who made them so happy, but the end of the relationship hurts them. so much that it feels like a spider 'eating their insides'. being a personal song, everyone will interpret the lyrics from their own personal viewpoint and apply it. this song is so popular because anyone who has lost their other half can relate to it, so much you can actually feel the truth in the lyrics and makes you reflect. that is why people love music. a beautiful, relevant song, i split with my girlfriend a few days ago and this song is helping me come to terms with it and hope that she will 'come home and stop the pain tonight' |

not every gorillaz song is about drugs, but this is by far one of their druggiest. without enough knowledge of the context we cant give an accurate idea of what albarn was trying to express. but from what i can see, i think its about being miserable and having relations with another man's woman, and the 'keep him from my door' stuff is hiding from him. "I got sunshine I got you/Theres nothing, nothing I can do" could be he wants to go out with her but cant because shes taken. but i have no idea about how the breakfast and coffee stuff goes into this, im probably way off. or it could just be about drugs, almost every line could be read into to reference substances. |

i think its got something to do with rockstar lifestyle, similar to stacked actors. 'the ride was shared' makes me think hes talking about all the band went through the pains of fame with him. other parts could be a hate letter to business types and drug dealers, and just people in general that kiss your ass cos your famous. but i could be way off. |
