He has a girlfriend of 5 years (maybe 4 or 6... I can't remember)
Though as there is nothing vaguely sexual in the entire song, I don't think that it is about a relationship but a plutonic friendship. |

Rather self explanatory lyrics. The person he is singing about is not willing to put any effort in to get out of the rut, so he stays there living a boring life.
The video which was released today seems to back this up |

I finally looked at it and you're right, it is just am without the brackets. And it is probably because EP sounds better then just Single, as EP encourages you to take the other songs on there seriously |

I don't get why people see the male as purposely hurting the female. It is possible to care about someone even if you don't love them. If he really was idly taking advantage with no regards for what he is doing to her, he wouldn't "hope the dream hasn't left her scarred" |

What is there in the song to say that he is talking about a guy. He says 'she' quite a few times, which isn't traditionally a part of a normal gay relationship. I am not actually sure whether Nathan wrote this, but this is definitely about a heterosexual couple to me |

I have the physical copy of the Kids On Overload EP, and while I can't look at it right now I only remember it being called 'Here In My Hotel'; without the '(am)'. iTunes also automatically named it 'Here In My Hotel'. Where did the (am) come from?? |

I actually have no idea what "Could have just been tired, folic or retired, I don't know" actually is... I highly doubt that they are singing about Folic Acid... |

The words that I had trouble distinguishing is "'til we know what was (coming/nothing)" "If we fails to (pass/pace), (longing/we need) to remain" |
