To me this song is all about female empowerment and being a strong woman on your own, making your own way and generally being fierce. I don't think any other artist could get away with writing a song in their own made up version of a widely recognised other language, but Gaga does it and it's just cute, I think mostly because she speaks about her desire to be able to speak german. "I don't speak German but I can if you like" "I don't speak German but I wish I could" I also think her inability to speak German metaphorically works alongside her frustration at how hard it is to be a strong, independent lady, as both seem to lead her to frustration and however hard she may find it, she's trying her best to do both and is doing it her own way. For this reason I think her making her own German sounding language is actually a big homage to the German language, like it's something she's aspiring to learn. I heard somewhere that Germany, especially Berlin, is one of GaGa's favourite places. |

This is about Luc Carl, GaGa's Nebraskan on-off boyfriend, who she has been in love with for "six whole years". He works in a bar in New York and also tries his hand at many other things. Of all the men GaGa's dated, he's the one she's fallen for most in spite of how tumultuous their relationship can be, and I don't think she ever got over him, even when they spent a couple of years apart. She was determined to get him back and I think she associates him with New York and who Gaga was at the beginning, and who Stefani Germanotta was. That's what the whole "this time I'm not leaving without you" thing is about. I think he's had quite a heavy influence on this whole album, though not directly. He's into Rock and Roll and is obsessed with his cars, which also explains "I couldn't listen to a joke or rock 'n' roll, and muscle cars drove a truck right through my heart" It's a lovely song. |

I think this song has a dual meaning, I've read two different accounts of what it's about and both make sense. 1) About political mistresses such as Marilyn Monroe (hence JFK reference) 2) The use of musicians by the music industry, and artist's often willing and quite naive acceptance of what the media asks of them. Because of Fame. For this reason, I think this song, content wise is one of the closest on the album to "The Fame" though probably more "The Fame Monster" Also should be said, one of the best and catchiest songs on this album, in my opinion. |

| Lady GaGa – The Edge of Glory Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Apparently this is about her Grandfather's death and the last few moments a person spends alive. Considering she refers to this as "the Edge of Glory", I believe that the person she's singing about in the song is God, someone who as you die will "take [you] home tonight". It would also explain the lyrics "I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm hanging on a moment of truth, I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm hanging on a moment with you", as it sounds like waiting for confirmation of God and heaven. I love GaGa's ability to disguise a really meaningful song as a love song. She did it with this and Speechless, and I really do think it's a very beautiful thing for someone so talented to do. |

I love how this song is so tongue-in-cheek but it still means what it's saying. Like GaGa and her Little Monsters, it's got a message to put out and wants to have fun, but it doesn't take itself too seriously. So catchy. I think it's GaGa's way of saying to her fans that no matter how "bad" or different you are, what people may judge or perceive you as, you shouldn't beat yourself up as long as inside you're a good person. A beautiful message from mother monster. |

| Lady GaGa – Bloody Mary Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I read somewhere that this song is about Mary Magdalene, and how she was both a religious icon and a real person with feelings, I'm sure something was said about the duality of a woman being both human and a superstar. The human/superstar thing would relate to GaGa a lot, and I personally always feel like her music kind of represents both sides of the coin. It's really fun, catchy and easy to relate to (for some), but it's also got a really personal, almost cathartic aspect to it. It seems that this song is about the loss of someone great in her life, yet in spite of the loss of this person she's trying to be strong as she knows she's still everything she is without him. | |
| Lady GaGa – Americano Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I believe this song is more about Mexican-American immigration than gay marriage, though gay marriage is clearly a strong theme. In my view, it's about love between a Mexican girl and a girl from the US, who fall in love but due to immigration laws, they can't truly be together. It sound all fun and happy but whether it's about gay marriage or immigration or both, it's actually quite sad that they can't be together. :( | |
