That line, "Come let me love you, let me give my life to you." is just so beautiful and real. You know he meant it, that's why it's heartbreaking. |

Same here. I always thought it was "Sad, Li". My name is Lisa as well. So they call me "Lee". It makes more sense if the lyric is What's making you sad, Lee? It's more personal, since he is speaking diretly to Lisa. And clearly having a one-sided conversation with her. I always felt that she was Agoraphobic. (Afraid of leaving her house). But then my name is Lisa, I had Agoraphobia, so maybe I just want her to be like me. It does make sense though. He is the only one who can see her/touch her. Perhaps he lives with her. He almost seems like her carer. To me, this is one of the saddest songs ever written. The line, "My love wants to relieve her" and "open your door, don't hide in the dark" they just break my heart. The piano is just perfect. Particularly the end piece. It becomes erratic and grating. Leading to no particular climax. The same with Lisa. We don't know what will become of her. But it won't be good. She almost seems doomed. |
