I thought it was quite interesting and a contradiction how she doesn't want to be left behind, but she wants to keep her distance. It could be taken as a problem with relationships, how she wants to be with someone, but at the same time, she doesn't want to get close. Catching my breath, letting it go Turning my cheek for the sake of this show Now that you know, this is my life I won't be told what's supposed to be right For me, I think this song is about moving on. In the beginning, she's talking about how much she can do without people influencing her. When she's turning her cheek for the sake of the show, she could be avoiding conflicts so she doesn't want to waste time by starting gossip. She's realizing how she should spend most of her time. "Catching her breath" could be interpreted as the epiphany that she should move on and focus on her, without anything holding her back. |

Here's my take on it. Sadly, this has happened to me which is why I can relate to this song. Girl meets boy. Both are sort of dating, but then all of a sudden, the boy doesn't talk to her anymore. She's confused because she's interested still. Him, however, continues to ignore her. She starts to understand that he's not really interested and that perhaps he was playing her all along. Anyway, this is simply a break up song. |
