Agree, tremendous song this. I find it a little haunting, yet reassuring at the same time. I agree with all Mr X has written, and would just add the song is probably more relevant today than when it was written. Or maybe that is just because I am older now and have seen more examples of women - the same ones who are often heard to utter words to the effect that money and material things mean nothing to them, they just want to be happy - clawing after men who can afford them position, fortune, fame and power. Now, I don't actually have any issue with women doing this, so long as they do it well and truly. But to deliberately choose one road, as say Princess Diana did, then weep tears for the opportunities this choice has cost.....once you choose a certain road: You poor hoochie gucci fiorucci mama You got really no place to go As in, you made your bed, now lie in it. |
