| @[penitenziagite:6493] Do you know what he actually says instead of "and graceless heirs"? | |

I think this one is pretty straight-forward. The persona of the song broke up (or is about to break up) with someone, and takes drugs to get rid of all the memories. So far, it's working ("I can already see your name disintegrating from my lips"). "I got bullets in the booth / Rather be your victim than be with you" is the trickiest part of the song. Maybe this person is in a booth, talking over the phone with their beloved; probably just arguing, and thinking about suicide ("Rather be your victim than be with you"). Notice that the gender of both the person taking drugs and their beloved aren't mentioned in any part of the song; even if MM is singing, the poetic "I" could be a man or a woman, and the relationship could be either heterosexual or homosexual. It isn't specified in the lyrics. |

| @[pleasebeatme92:6491] Did you ever find out what he said in the second verse? I'm puzzled and annoyed about it too. | |

| @[flutter:6264] Can you tell me what he really says? I'm not a native speaker, so I notice he's saying something different, but I don't know what. | |

| You're the only sensible person at the time of interpretating the lyrics. Congratulations. Obviously, he is referring to God and its followers. The only thing I have to add is that Marilyn Manson is very fond of Nietzsche, and Nietzsche's "God is dead" phrase is very well known, so here you have it: "Dead is what he is". | |

| It doesn't say anything about 'blowing brains'. Besides, the suicidal idea is there, yes. I don't see the part of Christianity. What I see is the existencialist problem, which so many of us have suffered. The pain of living in a world like this, where everyone wants you to be sheep, and only likes you when you are on your knees. | |

'Whiplasher said something in an interview about this being about losing your innocense as you grow older.' Well, when I read this, everything became clear to me. 'Watch the vultures as they open their eyes' - The vultures where asleep, the vultures are the not innocent people. The person is innocent, till it opens its eyes. 'You've never seen anything like this before' The innocent begins to "see" the world from a new point of view, with new eyes (the eyes of the vulture). 'You've never felt anything like this before' It is that horrifying feeling, that frightens the teenager, man, or child when he becomes conscious of the innocence he has lost. 'I will deny you this world belongs to me' Here, the 'voice that talks' could be the concience, the bad part of the being, the un-innocent part. It tells the innocent part that it (the bad part of the human being) is the one that rules now. 'You try to fake it but all wounds are there to see' The innocent are unspotted from the world, but they mix with it, and they suffer, they feel great pain and then the veil is taken. The 'wounds are there to see', the innocent part of the being tries to hide the bad part, the evil in the person, but it cannot do it. It is not an antichrist song, it is just a song about people loosing their innocence, and it's one of the best lyrics I ever read. |
