I think this song more reflects Maynards upbringing and living in a traditional baptist house hold with little expantion for thinking outside the box or thinking beyond Momma's or the good books words and thoughts, having to "swallow the poison" she fed him. Listed to the song Judith (a perfect circle) and you will understand some sort of animosity between him and his cripled, old school religious mother. He joined the milliatry at a younger age to expand his threshold of pain and break away, shortly after he started expanding his mind and came to this, one of his earlyer songs. |
