| also, "playing a part" is a vital part of the burn. there are no spectators allowed - all must participate. "if I had played a better part" is a reasonable thing to say about a burn - although in general, regrets are not a typical part of the experience :) | |

To me, this song is about Burning Man. The first year, the Man was built and burned to help Larry get over a breakup. Now, the burns don't necessarily represent failures - more nearly the opposite I would say. But, in the spirit of doing things even better the next time, the sentiment still fits. I think the first line reminds me of the Man. The name Maya reminds me of the 2012 apocalypse theory, but it also rhymes with playa, which is the nickname that Burners give to the desert and its surface (i.e. 'on the playa' is used both in the sense of 'in the Black Rock Desert' and 'on the ground'). Other references that speak to the burn include "come with me and run away", "the sound was loud enough", and "saintly disguise". Also, for those who have been, the "look in your eyes" and "joy and chaos" will sound familiar. In 2012, the new ticketing system has caused a lot of uproar because of extreme ticket scarcity - some would call it an epic fail. But I know that the community will come up with a way to enjoy the next 200 days, and then set it on fire! |

| The refrain at the end is actually "I concur, I conquer", reflecting the two sides of the sexual encounter: that it is both a cooperative activity, and a ravishing that is more or less uninterested in consent. | |
