"Hope would fail me in the falling snow And slake a wish inside" - The person in the song is depressed. His (I will asume the person is a man according to the last bit of lyrics) life situation is in a bad shape. He tries to hope for the best, but thinks that it doesn't get him nowhere. Falling snow = his current situation.. he can't see the direction his life is going. He doesn't try to hope for the best. "Friends would leave me in my darkest hour, yet trust me with their lives" - He is trustworthy, but hi friends are not. Another example of his depression. "She would haunt my dreams and feed my demons They tell me to go" - He is in love with a woman. The man thinks about her (she would haunt my dreams) & the woman angers him for some reason (feed my demons). The man tries to forget about her and forget the hate. (they tell me to go - he is talking about the demons) |

| To me, this song is about loving somebody but that somebody doesn't love you. Then your feeling towards that special someone starts to weaken..and then it's gone, with only memories left. | |

It's about slowly becoming famous in the music industry. And once you really get to the top, it will start to weaken you. Everything in your life becomes busy; the interviews, the gigs, contracts to sign, contribute to advertisements, promote your work and so on. You rarely get time to just sit back & relax. And when you start to stress about these things..drugs & alcohol may come in. Just what happened to Amy Winehouse. She got money & fame, and she used 'em the wrong way UNDER too much pressure. Nobody took care of her. The major record labels are sick, they're only after money. They treat the musicians like shit. Jay Kay knows this and wrote this song, it's his personal experience, although the song may not be autobiographical |

Such a beautiful song. I've done a lot of bad things lately, I've been negative to myself, I've been negative to others. I've lied to myself. I haven't trusted myself.. I'm starting to change this for the better..and just when I hope it would get better, things start falling apart. But I'm getting used to that jo-jo move. Up, down.. But every time I'm going for the positive, I'm gonna try to stay there. Songs like this just make you stronger. My thoughts and feelings to everyone who has gone through or is going through difficult times |

The man knows a woman and loves her, but doesn't know her well, and wants to hear her secrets. Everything about her. And the man wants to share his secrets to her. The man doesn't want attention from others if he starts a relationship with her, so he holds back and is afraid to start a relationship. The man thinks he is the only one for her.. ''who will stand before you, if you don't say my name'' |

| Foo Fighters – These Days Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Yeah..it's like there's a certain group of people trying to belittle the person in the song or the person's own conscience, his/her own ''ME'', the vision of her/himself is doing so. It's like the person is always thinking that these bad things will happen.. and they will if the person thinks about it too much. I'm like that. When everything is alright, I was always think about the future and how thing's could go wrong in months, weeks, years, whatever... Anyway, below's some bullshit I made up: One of these days, your eyes will close and pain will disappear. <- Suicidal thoughts?? People trying to convince the person that resting, just relaxing a bit will help?? Or people telling the person to kill him/herself?? One of these days, you will forget to hope and learn to fear. <- The person is very depressed and loses his/her exuberance, starts to fear, anxiety comes in. Or somebody else is pushing him/her down like that. But it's alright. Yeah it's alright. I said it's alright. ^ The person in the song tries to convince him/herself that everything is fine but can't. One of these days, the ground will drop out from beneath your feet. <-- The person is weak. He/she can't do anything with joy. A possible depression caused by the broken relationship. One of these days, your heart will stop and play it's final beat. <-- The fear of dying, suicide? Heart attack? The person doesn't feel healthy anymore, the person's dangerously condescending self image causes this.. Or the person fears he/she will not feel love anymore after the break-up, or when the break-up comes. (One of these days + will, so it MIGHT come) |

| Foo Fighters – A Matter of Time Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Yeah I think that sums it up well, what Revelry said. But the lyrics made me think about alcoholism or drug addiction.. somebody is trying to stop it but can't. Or the person has stopped but can't forget about it and is close to starting to use 'em again. | |

I don't know but this could also be about a shy person being lonely everyday, wants to express his/her feelings to someone and does use drugs to take away the sadness.. Don't know but I love this song |

"Wake up to the sound of rain upon my sill Pick up the pieces of my yesterday old thrill Can I deliver this used up shiver To how I pronounce my life And leave it up to faith to go by its own will" The first line is self-explanatory. In the second line, the narrator is rebuilding his/her feelings, love, towards the person he/she had loved before. Yesterday old could possibly mean a short time, so the narrator had lost all his/her feelings towards the person he/she loved in a short time, but is rebuilding them again. Or, the narrator had a great time with the person he/she loves yesterday, and can't wait for the next time. In the third & fourth line, the narrator wants to share his/her feelings with the person he/she loves, but is unsure. Used up could mean the narrator has felt like that before (going back to line two) or has kept them inside for too long, not being able to show them to the person the narrator loves. The person is how the narrator pronounces his/her life, the person makes the narrator's life complete. In the fifth line, we learn that the narrator could be religious, and leaves the power to decide if he/she could start a relationship with the person, to a spiritual entity: for example, God. The narrator could also trust, highly, in the possibility that he/she could start a relationship with the person he/she loves. "Back row to the left A little to the side Slightly out of place Look beyond the light Where you'd least expect There's someone special" The male/female narrator in the song thinks about the person and wants that person to notice the narrator. The narrator is shy, perhaps unsocial, and walks his/her own road, but wants to be noticed by that person. "A foggy morning greets me quietly today I smell a fragrance in the wind blowing my way And ever further I run to find her I yearn to define my life Placing my faith in chance to meet me in half way" First line is self-explanatory, the narrator is now outside, looking for the person he/she loves. In the second line, we learn that the person the narrator loves, is a female. The narrator smells her fragrance (pretty self-explanatory) or tries to convince to him/herself that she is nearby, when she's really not. In the third line, the narrator keeps on searching for her, perhaps even more actively, as he/she could be running, trying to get to the right place at the right time. In the fourth line, the narrator is desperately trying to find her, as she makes the narrator's life complete. In the fifth line, the narrator possibly puts his/her trust in a powerful spiritual entity (God) so that God could make the two meet atleast for once. The narrator possibly does the same every day, walks around, trying to search for her, to even see her walk by, but with no result. "And she's here to write her name On my skin with kisses in the rain Hold my head and ease my pain In a world that's gone insane" The narrator finally met her, in the rain, she kisses the narrator, holds him and eases his pain of not being able to find her before. The narrator doesn't care about the rest of the world ''that's gone insane'', only about her. The narrator could even be depressed. The lyrics in this song are very special to me. I love this song.. English isn't my first language, sorry. This song brings a tear to my eyes, more than that. It reminds of me. I am the narrator.. |
