Sugarcult – Dead Living Lyrics 14 years ago
When I was younger, I thought it was about a zombie invasion! But I completely agree with gahenderson. Sugarcult is one of those amazing bands that just never get the attention they deserve. They're frustrated with the current state of mainstream music (rest assured, they're not alone!), but feel helpless, unable to "save us"/change it. I may be reading too deep into it, but I think "selling out to the innocent" refers to all of the bands that have broken away from their roots and gone mainstream. In contrast, Sugarcult don't conform. Although they're frustrated, they're not going to change their music for a bigger paycheck at the end of the day.

Stephen Kellogg – You've Changed Lyrics 14 years ago
My favorite song by the Sixers. A person in a marriage suddenly sees their partner change into someone who's not the person they once knew. The narrator feels robbed of his affection, confused. He seems to be holding on, unwilling to accept the change and move on--"but I still wear my ring." At the same time, he breaks away, and thus his "exit is complete." The narrator feels lost without her, "only half of what I wish that I was." Some time later, he starts seeing someone else, but once again, things just don't work out. The line "but a rose is still a rose, by any other name" always jumps out at me. Stephen Kellogg has described it in concert as "a prophetic song, written for my friend Goose," their bassist. Literally, it's about a divorce, but I think it can be applied to any relationship where something unexpected happens and no matter how hard you try, there's simply nothing you can do. In the end, you're forced to accept the reality of the situation and move on.

Nada Surf – Blankest Year Lyrics 14 years ago
Great song, one of my favorites of theirs. I take it to be about looking back on wasted time, and letting go/moving on with life. More specifically, a person finds out someone close to them wasn't who they thought they were. Tired of living in their world of drama, lies and contradictions, the person says "Oh fuck it, I'm gonna have a party," realizing it's no longer worth obsessing over.
