I like how you mentioned other songs in your interpretation... Lucy, Hero, Monster, and Don't Wake Me are all songs that could definitly be related in that way. They most likely are but I'm not exactly sure. Good point. |

Good point and I agree, but sometimes when you love someone, that makes you vunerable to anything you say... Somethings are often taken to heart when they should never have been said... But yes, I do agree with what you are saying. |

Rock on! Great post... I interpret this song two ways, and one does have to do with God. We all have had our doubts but the truth of the matter is that nobody can make it on their own. Also, I think he could be singing to a girl, yes Skillet is a Christian band but they do also sing songs about love... much like Relient K. Great song. I love to play it on my accoustic, definitly a different arrangement, but the same powerful message. God lives, love lives, long live both. |

Everything seems to be going wrong, in his life. Bad timing of events if I had to guess…If you want to interpret this literally then yes I can see where some people are getting a suicidal vibe, but the reference to “14 miles away” leads me to believe that he is just lost and needs answers. (Well at least that is how I interpret “14 miles away”.) My guess is that he fell in love with a girl and he really wanted to be with her, but he had to tell her he that they couldn’t be together. After the fact he feels lost and broken because he regrets his choice and he feels like he can’t get her back. If I was the girl he was singing about, I would tell him that I want to be with him too, but I understand why things wouldn’t work out. And that just because he couldn’t be in a romantic relationship with me, there was still no reason to push me away. Friendship is the key to any kind of relationship and being friends can always turn into something more later on in life. And I would also tell him that I would never let him be alone; I won’t let him drown. Actually I might have him listen to the song “Whispers In the Dark” by Skillet. That’s what I’d do.
