Marina and the Diamonds – The Archetypes Lyrics 13 years ago
Middle school me was really frustrated because I tried very hard to be who I am inside, but when I mentioned that to friends they would put me down as being critical of others because it's natural to care what people think of you, or whatever. And it is, and maybe I WAS more critical of people who change themselves for others than I am now.
The point is, "through others, we become ourselves" is sort of what they, the Archetypes, said. And they were implying that they were better than me.
I love looking back and realizing that I am growing into the person I want to be.

Metric – Black Sheep Lyrics 14 years ago
I think it's about someone with a friend who's becoming distant from them, and not really being themselves, but when they're alone, or everyone is being a jerk to them, they come back to you and you still care about them.

Evanescence – Everybody's Fool Lyrics 14 years ago
To me this song is about you knowing something, maybe a friend, that you liked, maybe even admired. And then you realized... that isn't really them. The person they're projecting is just someone that they want people to like. And they're kind of arrogant, and they don't really respect you. This is you saying 'I have had enough.'

Lady GaGa – Poker Face Lyrics 14 years ago
She's said it's about her being bisexual. So she's with a guy, but she's fantasizing about girls. "Can't read my poker face... she's got me like nobody."

Lily Allen – Womanizer (Britney Spears cover) Lyrics 14 years ago
Lily Allen's songs actually have meaning. It's not just 'omg, I like that guy, he doesn't like me, I'm gonna DIEEEE.' Everyone's At It, F*** You, Him... I could continue.

Lily Allen – Absolutely Nothing Lyrics 14 years ago
I agree with that, but to me personally it's about how something happens that really upsets you, and you have a friend that's kind of smirking at you and feel satisfied by it. But you say that you're absolutely fine, even though you feel like crap.

I think she wrote it about a break-up, though.

Marina and the Diamonds – Are You Satisfied? Lyrics 14 years ago
To me it's basically criticizing the world. Are you satisfied with the say it is?

"My problem is my problem
That I never am happy
It's my problem, it's my problem
On how fast I will succeed"

This really sticks out to me, because it's talking about how the world says that it's our fault if we're depressed, or if we're unsatisfied the world. Sometimes, however hard we try, we can't control our emotions.

"People like to tell you what you're gonna be"

People also have an idea about who we are and what we will and will not do, and they stick to it and its limitations. That's what this line says to me.

There's a lot more to this song, too, it's really deep.
