Deafheaven – The Pecan Tree Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is about the bitter relationship the writer has with his father. He wants to erase the memories of his father's life because they are not happy ones. The writer passed out drunk on the streets on his father's birthday, drinking away the sorrow. The final lines admit that he is just like his father - incapable of love.

Arcade Fire – Keep the Car Running Lyrics 11 years ago
The narrator is speaking of a fear that has been with him since he can remember. He knows deep down that this unexplainable fear will eventually cause him to flee his life and venture somewhere far - perhaps across the sea. To "keep the car running" is to be ready to escape at any time; it is his way of expressing the inevitable. This type of anxiety is common - many people struggle with the idea of situating themselves in one place for their whole lives.

Arcade Fire – Half Light II (No Celebration) Lyrics 11 years ago
This song takes place years (maybe decades) after Half Light I. The narrator returns to his home town from San Francisco and realizes the inherent change in the town's essence. He references the "half light" as a way to compare his childhood experience in this town with his present day bleak view of a place he once cherished - hence no celebration.

Arcade Fire – Half Light I Lyrics 11 years ago
The half light is the shade of light of the sky in the middle of the night, right before sunrise. Because the children are heavily disciplined, they sneak out of the house in the late hours of the night, where they can be their real selves and reflect on their perceptions and wonders of the real world.

Between the Buried and Me – Lunar Wilderness Lyrics 14 years ago
Prequel to the Sequel:

The Lady on the Hill (Mother Nature) creates The Headless Person (Earth). The Headless Person finds the love of 3 others (Humanity) to create a symbiotic relationship. The 3 Lovers strip away the life of The Headless Person, in a way that will eventually destroy The Headless Person.

Lost Perfection (The Sequel):

A scenario in which the 3 Lovers are in a room with the offspring of The Headless Lover and themselves. The new born notices the 3 Lovers conversing and each has noticeable differences. There is talk about a "mission" - this mission is the events that will take place in The Parallax. Before anything can happen The Headless Person dies.

Lunar Wilderness (Same/Alternate/Projected Timeline as Lost Perfection):

Revolving around one of the 3 Lovers, time and space is used to create a way to fix what has happened to the world. A device is built and there is an attempt to go back and change the course of existence, ultimately leading to failure.

There is a whole other aspect to The Parallax that will tie in with this story, although it is set in a different plain of existence. Everything will come together in Part II.
