I think this song is about trying to disconnect yourself from other people in order to protect yourself from disappointment or getting hurt. The person is trying to detach emotionally from the world (their feelings are 'gone') but in the end such an existence is isolating and will 'bore' them. The logic is that if they are never 'home' - if they don't attach themselves to anything, or anyone - they can't ever feel hurt and they're 'never lost' because they have nothing to lose. However, the person is unfulfilled by this lifestyle. They are trying to convince themselves that they've 'never wanted anything less', but in reality their detached life is incomplete and they feel lonely. They just want to 'feel that they belong', and the last line about setting and rising suns inspires them to take risks again, because even if something goes wrong and we get hurt, there's always Another day :) |
