Ed Sheeran – Wake Me Up Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this is about two friends who hooked up and have a "friends with benefits" thing going on, or a friend's sister... He's seeing her in a new light and it's making him feel giddy and fantasising about a relationship with her -
"See I could do without a tan on my left hand, where my fourth finger meets my knuckle" [wedding ring]
And I should run you a hot bath fill it up with bubbles [a relationship]

'Cause maybe you're loveable, maybe you're my snowflake
And your eyes turn from green to gray
And in the winter I'll hold you in a cold place
And you should never cut your hair
'Cause I love the way you flick it off your shoulder

[He's starting to see her in a new light and notice things he's never noticed before, like how the colour of her eyes change, and the way she flicks her hair. And he's wondering if maybe she could be more than just a friend, maybe he loves her.]

And you will never know
Just how beautiful you are to me
But maybe I'm just in love
When you wake me up

[He's showing signs of falling for her, but then "maybe I'm just in love when you wake me up" - he's not sure if he's just seeing her that way the morning after because it's the afterglow effect.. and it's a way he's never seen her before.]

And would you ever feel guilty
if you did the same to me
Could you make me a cup of tea
To open my eyes in the right way? [This starts a random bit in the song which shows they've known each other a while, I feel like this is a referral to talks they'd had about falling for friends with benefits.. and he's saying "would you feel guilty if you were doing that to me?" .. then the cup of tea to remind him that they're just friends and there's nothing more there]

The next part talking about the Bluray, computer games and her brother is just showing that they've known each other for a while and it's comfortable and working out as friends, but the fact that he's noticing such specific things about her shows that he's fallen for her, and he's saying things to try and find out from her if she's feeling the same ("I know you love Shrek because we've watched it 12 times, maybe you're hoping for a fairytale too?")

I think he's falling for her but unsure how she feels and unsure how to progress because they're just "friends", and he's questioning whether it's worth it or whether he's just feeling all this in the afterglow of the morning after.

Billie Holiday – No Regrets Lyrics 14 years ago
These are lovely lyrics. I love the line "I know our love will linger, when the other love forgets". It's heartbreaking because even though it's a happy song as she's looking back on the relationship fondly, she has this huge unrequited love that will follow her while he's moved on and probably wouldn't look back.

Eliza Doolittle – So High Lyrics 14 years ago
I love this song, probably my favourite off her album. It's heartbreaking :(
I came on here to see what other people thought this song meant but there's no comments so I thought I'd add what it means to me;

This is biased with personal experience but I think it's about a couple who have split up, and she's come off worse. He's moved on and she's trying to believe that it's not happening, she's shut herself off from it and it's making her numb to everything.

Time is up, I need you to know that I need you
Don't you walk away, I'm feeling so high
From my arms, from my lips , to my eyes

This is kind of like her recognising that she's in trouble and that she can't carry on in a dreamworld anymore, she needs him to pull her back out of it. The "so high" bit is because she's feeling out of sorts and strange, like the "high" you get from drugs.

In the alleyway , feeling peaceful now
Traffic doesn't ever bother me.
It's enough for me, living in my dreams
I just can't be bothered
Why should I be bothered?

This verse is showing that she's put herself in a daze and numbed herself out from the world, nothing can get to her in her bubble ("traffic doesn't ever bother me" , "it's enough for me, living in my dreams"). "I just can't be bothered, why should I be bothered?" shows that she's numbed out her feelings, but realistically she is bothered by it all because she's still thinking about it in the back of her mind.

On a sunny day, sit and contemplate
All the things that really matter now
It hurts to hear that your doing good
I just can't be bothered
Why should I be bothered?

This verse is about her trying to think about the good things that she has in life and un-numb herself to that, but her mind wanders to him and how he's doing well since they've broken up. Here the "I just can't be bothered" is her quickly stopping herself thinking about it and numbing it back out.

I know the truth, gotta let you go
gotta put you out, you've become a foe

This is just her trying to talk herself into stopping feeling anything for him when she's stopped to think about it.

Sometimes it's easier to block feelings out and kind of pretend it's not happening than to actually deal with it, I think that's what this song is about. The "high" references and the "alley-way" is just referring to the analogy of the dazed effect that drug-taking can produce.
I'm not sure if that makes sense, or if that's what this is about, but that's what I think :)
