In a Top Ten Influential Albums list on Louder Than War, Miki Berenyi says Breeze "was actually about self-harm." I don't see it myself - I always thought it was just a fun light musical romp. |

The song is a beautiful, evocative piece that provides brilliant, scathing imagery of Waters' revenge fantasy against those he's decided to hold responsible for his father's death. Those people are the people who defended England in WW2, their political fellow travelers, people he asserts are their political fellow travelers, and even random people he can't even be bothered to name. He would take all of these people and have them killed "final solution" style in an effort to assuage his pain. Heartfelt, yes. Rational, no. |
