andy-valery: i'm not the kings of leon whisperer but red morning light was about a prostitute, i doubt they would write another song about the prostitute...unless they are obsessed. this song is a far cry from their old sound..which i so adore. but this is an okay song. i think what caleb is getting at here is that he is ready to settle down and fall in love with someone and share himself with someone, rather than continue one night stands and how "time with him is wasted time" and how happy he is alone. |

i think this is about killing someone.. if el bastardo is right then my hypothesis was correct. the first verse has a lot of references to graves...kneeling to remember the dead...giving her flowers...etc. the rest of the song could follow about his desire to kill |

| Dr. Dog – Shadow People Lyrics

my interpretation of this song is about the music scene in west philadelphia. apparently he wrote this while looking out of the window from their hometown in philly..according to bottlerocket. the shadow people could be those that became famous, got somewhere, left the depressive routine. throughout the song he's asking where all of the shadow people went, because he doesn't know what it takes to reach his dreams...to cure the drought. there is a sort of depressive, negative tone throughout the whole song and the shadow people seem to be put up on a pedestal, they are identified as shadows because they aren't easily identifiable. "Hoping these cigarettes will save us" "There ain't nothin round here to look at" I can definitely relate to these lines, being that i'm from a small town wanting to get out. i dream of a time that i can "break free," if you will. i don't know, this is just my interpretation |
