I think this song speaks to that strange, ambiguous place in a relationship that is far more commonly discussed when we are young. The older we get, we feel stupid about it. It's strange when you both know you're interested in one another, but too caught up in your fears to act on it. That feeling never goes away for some people.

I just remember hearing this when Lindsay was on the Ellen show back in the day. They showed a clip as the bumper to the second half of the interview. It was so jarringly emotional compared to the lighthearted show it was on. I just remember feeling so sad because I adored Lindsay growing up and, as a tween at the time, I hated that she was sad. I still hate that she's sad. |

When I first heard this song back in spring 2011, when everything had happened with her hitting the bong and generally being vilified, I honestly thought this song was about her father. He was going on and erratically airing out his concern and details of her troubles while the were estranged. The whole thing felt very Michael Lohan to me. Rather than respecting her hope for privacy and actual needing of help, he basically blamed all of his family's problems on her. She needed her father, and he wasn't being there for her.
It seems they've resolved their problems but I have had this happen to me with several people. Two of them, I really had to give up. And the pain in her voice was my own.

This song hits very close to home right now. I'm in love with a man, and he treats me like he loves me, but he's already in a relationship with a woman. He's never expressly told me that he thinks of me that way or that he even likes men, but there are times when you just know. I'm always here for him just as he is me. I never push my own wants on him, and we literally sit at the side of the stage whenever one another is performing (we met after being cast in the same musical.) I let him live his life, but I am aching for him. But I don't want to frighten him and lose him. We both want the same things out of life. I just don't understand why we can't go on with our lives together, why we can't just look at each other and say "take me with you." |

This song is about Chezza spending the night with a close friend, and in the throes of passion they confess their love to each other. In the days following, her would-be-lover seems to be denying/or trying to forget their confession (hence the title), and maybe even says that sex ruined their friendship.
I love this song so much, it has so much feeling. If you ask me, I think she's singing about Derek Hough;) but you never know.
This song rings with me because even if you've never gotten romantic with a friend, everyone understands how strong your feelings are when you get physical. and There-in lies the dilemma, were you just caught up in the moment? Or did you unlock your real feelings? |
