I love this song! It's one of my favorites by Coldplay. As for the meaning, I think it's about religion/being saved. "Where do we go, nobody knows" - No one has been back from death (recently anyways, if you believe in Lazarus and those people), so no one can tell us of the afterlife "Where do we go to draw the line? Your guess is as good as mine" - Where does the scale tip on whether we go to heaven or hell? You don't know and neither do I. "God gave you style and gave you grace, God put a smile upon your face" - God gave this person gifts, and I'm guessing a happy life - so they shouldn't say they are going to hell when they are so blessed, maybe there is a reason they are so blessed. On the other hand, the speaker is asking God to give him style and grace, maybe he doesn't have it because he is a "worse" person and he "wanted to" do as he chose. This song seems way too solemn to just be about material things and popularity. |
