Fleetwood Mac – Never Going Back Again Lyrics 14 years ago
Knowing the whole bands back story, this looks a heck of a lot like a break up song, one where the singer swears to never go back to the relationship and the low place it put him in. But listening to the song, I can't help but hear a different story. I hear a guy who has screwed up promising to do better and confessing his love for a girl who has never known better (you don't know what it means to win). I see this as a promise to never go back o his old ways, and to never go back to the dark place he was in before he met her. And that is why I'm in love with this song

Alanis Morissette – Thank U Lyrics 14 years ago
I agree with mizmiah, except for one detail. "How bout no longer being masochistic?" is my favorite line. Masochism does not equate to or even imply perversion. Masochism is deriving pleasure (sexual OR otherwise) from pain. No longer being masochistic would me no longer allowing yourself to be damaged or even damaging yourself out of an unhealthy desire. How bout that?

Anna Nalick – In The Rough Lyrics 14 years ago
I personally believe this song is about an affair.
"You say you fell while holding diamonds in your hand
It's your fault for running holding diamonds I said"
The diamonds could refer to something precious, like his relationship, or the ring of his wife/fiance. He says that even while he had that, he fell for her anyway. She says its his fault for being careless while he had that. The rest of the song goes on to describe her attempts, some failed, at ending the affair. She makes changes, gets confused, goes back (I turned around three times and wound up at your door). And at the end, she throws away his loveletters and leaves, reminding herself yet again that she will find love meant just for her, and he will love her and only her, just the way she is. All together a really inspiring song, in my opinion

Train – Eggplant Lyrics 14 years ago
"Paint me by numbers, and don't ask me why" seems to reffer to the fact that there is no reason to speak of. The song (and likely the relationship it's about) is simple, granted, it's simple insanity, but it's still simple. There is no discernable method to the madness, but the song is better for it. It's like he took every random thought and aspect of the relationship, rhymed them, and started singing. I love it

Oasis – Talk Tonight Lyrics 14 years ago
Fell in love with this song, every lyric fits my story perfectly. I met this guy almost three years ago. He was wonderful, brilliant, charming, and self destructive. Cutting, drugs, anything to hurt himself and the few remaining who truly cared about him. When sober, he was extraordinary. He defended and befriended me at my weakest point, and helped me to turn around and get my life on track. He convinced me to leave my abusive father and seek help. He healed me. And then he broke my heart. Within months, we went from the best of friends to not speaking at all. He had lied to me about quitting his self destructive habits, and I couldn't bare to watch him kill himself any more. I told him as much, and crying, walked away, fully expecting never to see him again. He found me months later. He hadn't cut or touched any illegal substance since I spoke to him last, and credited me with his sobriety and survival. Unfortunately, he has little memory of our early time together and doesn't know me as well as he thought he did, but we're working on it. He is the reason why I'm here, and he credits me with his life too. This is our song, made perfectly for us.

Florence + the Machine – Ghosts Lyrics 14 years ago
First off, I just love how there are two seperate entries for the same song, under two different titles, neither of which are correct. According to Florence, the song is called "I'm not calling you a liar" and since she wrote the song, and preformed it, I think we should go with her name for it.
Now to the actual song. I don't think it's about a bad relationship. I think it's about a bad guy. The girl is madly in love with the guy, despite the fact that he isn't exactly the best person all the time. She is careful not to anger him (so she carefully explains that she isn't calling him a liar/theif/ghost) because she cares so much about him, but she has to ask him to refrain from what might be usual his activities, and wants to tell the world all about her love for him.
He made not be perfect, and she may not be super secure, but it's love for sure. The kind of fairytale, perfect love you see in the movies, Made possible only by their imperfections. Anyway it's a beautiful, relatable song.
