okay, just my opinion, however, I was interpreting the lyrics a bit more broadly, more from the point of view that the "red hands" refers to blood on our hands for not taking action against those with the loaded guns, those who light the match....so, if we don't take action, we have red hands, we have blood on our hands by our own inaction........... |

One final point: even if the singer is walking by faith and not by sight, the object of his attention has to have their own faith in order to move mountains, the singer cannot move mountains on the behalf of the other person. The faith message in the Bible is that the person themself has to possess the faith required to move the mountains in their life. So, he is urging the object of his attention to have faith. |

Another relevant Bible verse is: 2 Corinthians 5:7 (New International Version, ©2011)
7 For we live by faith, not by sight.
Therefore, those who live by faith, don't rely on sight, facts, what is in front of them, you name it; they believe in the impossible, since the Creator who made all things can do the impossible. However, again, this applies when we live by faith. As I noted in my earlier post with another Bible verse, if someone truly lives by faith, they can move mountains. The songwriter / singer is admitting although he tells the night (darkness) to "lose your sight", thus not rely on prognosis, diagnosis, or whatever, his faith falters and he is unable to move the mountain he wants so desparately to move.

Well, this song is obviously rooted in Biblical imagery. One important Bible verse is: Matthew 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Therefore, it seems the singer is admitting at the end that his faith is unable to move a mountain (perhaps a healing). Therefore, his faith is lacking so he is unable to accomplish what the loved one so desperately wants/needs. |
