My ex boyfriend sent this song to me a couple of days after we split, telling me this summed up a lot of his feelings. I suffered from depression towards the end of the relationship, which in turn drove us apart.
So I interpret this song as a guy and girl who are very much in love, but the girl suffers from depression. He really wants to help the girl, he adores her, but it is just simply too much for him to handle and overwhelms him when he tries to help, as it seems to worsen her feelings. He just wants to go back to that perfection they once had but knows it can't happen. They argue and argue and he just can't see the point anymore and he is too overwhelmed to continue. |

This song just takes me back to when I had been kicked out at home and was still trying to get over an ex. I used to work 8-10 hour shifts after a full day at college to try make ends meet and before drifting off I would put this on and effectively drift away from how rubbish I would actually feel.. Thom's voice just makes me feel so emotional and reflective. |
