I can see the relationship correlations that most people talk about, and can also see letting go of someone(dead or alive), but I can't help but think that this song could be about God and/or Jesus, painted in a negative light. Talking about walking on the river reminds me of Jesus. The "love is all" reminds me of church-going folk saying that God/Jesus loves everyone, but there are a lot of people out their that have not only turned their back on religion, but believe that God is out to get them (and everyone else for that matter), where the "my heart has learned to kill" comes in as well as "evil is in my pocket." Throwing the will or the person in the river could refer to God not helping, but hindering the success of someone or letting someone die. Just a few thoughts; in a way this is still a "relationship" perspective, just not with a significant other. |
