U2 – Moment Of Surrender Lyrics 13 years ago
This song is about suffering, and our lack of awareness while within it.

He is dry flammable hay tied with wire, eaten by horses, is consumed with fire after playing with it. We play with life until it plays with us when we realize we can't control our fate, and yield to our inevitable infallibility.

The stone represents how a diamond symbolizes eternity, but a marriage is not, and we know it even on our wedding day. Whether death or divorce, it will end. But those moments are still so precious despite their impermanence.

We become impassioned (on fire), and can't resist our feelings. We believe our passions are an outside force, and worship them like a spiritual force.

The subway is a tunnel of life, with stops and destinations. Like Jesus during the crucifixion, we all suffer, yet become so consumed with our own suffering, and don't make eye contact, a metaphor for empathizing deeply with the suffering of others.

A black hole, or dark star, is depression. And painful moments in life. Light cannot escape them. A disconnection from heart, soul, consciousness and rhythm.

Like how death releases our struggle with impermanence, the moment we surrender to our suffering, we're finally able to let it go. And realize that the many others are more important than our single self.

Iron & Wine – Resurrection Fern Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is about how arid impoverished dryness can be misleading, and we always hold a deep inner ability to grow from pain. Underwater pearls are a symbol of how life can suddenly spring from pain and death - dry irritating sand becomes a pearl in an oyster. A Resurrection Fern plant will be brittle and dry, but incredibly arise lush and green in just a few hours after receiving water.

Everything in the lyrics are dry, brittle and dead:

Glass
Folded clothes (dried after washing)
Corn (dry when crows eat it in autumn)
Gun (steel, dry)
Grandma (wrinkled)
Bear claw (dried and old, killed by Grandma after it killed her dog - a long time ago)
Tin-car trains (brittle metal, and trains tend to not have foliage on the tracks)
Fallen house (dried wood; possibly burned down)
Baby's breath (a dried flower that is included in lush bouquets)
Ashes of a fire (very dry)
Baling wire (often used for hay, which is dry; and hay is usually most moist at its core)
Autumn leaves ("We'll see everything" because the leaves are dry and falling off trees)
Buzzard's wing (a sign something has died)

Search Google for "Resurrection Fern will rise from the dead" to learn more about this amazing plant.

Līve – The Dolphin's Cry Lyrics 14 years ago
To expand upon everyone's comments above:

The song starts with a man reflecting on the memory of first making love to his wife on the beach, and the initial feeling of sweet peace, trust and moonlight excitement. It ends with a rise to deeper love of more concrete and solid faith, peace and happiness. It's about the progression of love from shallow playful bliss to a torrent of depth. The dolphin is just a symbol for humanity - its cry can be both playful and sad since life is both beautiful like a rose garden and short like a shooting star.
