The Beatles – Nowhere Man Lyrics 8 years ago
Of course John cared about politics. He doesn't come out and overtly say "this is about LBJ". Sometimes you need to read between the lines. It's there but you have to see it when it's not spelled out for you.

Coldplay – The Scientist Lyrics 11 years ago
Having just lost my mom, this song,if not intended to depict someone talking to their loved lost one, certainly can be heard as being that. That is what makes a great work of art in so it is open for differing interpretations. "Come back and haunt me." as if to say I'll give anything to be able to reconnect with you. Even a haunting. "Come up to meet you" ...of course the person passed is in heaven. "Tell me your secrets"...we never totally know great people in our lives. Thats what makes them interesting. We always want to see what they reveal as our relationship goes on, (that gnawing feeling that we didn't know it all about how someone felt about things, about life, about death...) I don't remember my mom and I talking about what's next. I think she was afraid of that unknown. I'm regretting that I didn't pick her brain more. "I'm going back to the start........."I love you mom....."

Peter Gabriel – Downside Up Lyrics 14 years ago
I think you got it cooses. You articulated what was swirling around in my head. Love, as hard as it is to define, certainly defies our known laws of nature, thus it can exist throughout the universe and beyond. What we relate to as up or down, in the world of love, can be juxtaposed, in an orgy of up and down, in and out, back and forth, never and forever.

The song is about Lyndon Johnson, who was President when this song came out. This is an anti-war song. Johnson is not so cryptically referred to the line, "The world is at your command." He is "sitting in his nowhere land," the White House at his desk, and doesn't have a point of view. He just listens to advisors and is a puppet for the military Industrial complex.
