| @[River:54153] Wolf - The reason The Satanic Temple started afterschool clubs for school kids is because it’s the only way to stop Christians from doing it. It’s basically the threat of, “Oh, you want to have religion in schools? You want to mix church and state? We can do that too. Check us out.” If Christians would f*cking stop trying to erase the line between church and state, you’d never hear about The Satanic Temple again. They are a liberal activist group, first and foremost. Most of us who donate to them do so for because their political tactics have caused Christians to back off and stop breaking the rules America’s constitution created for the first time in history. If you don’t want to have Muslim or Satanic or Wiccan prayer in schools, then you need to stop pushing Christian prayer in schools. Simple. | |

| @[ilovekelly75:27360] - I assume now that it's over 10 years later, you probably understand what "wine dine 69 me" means, lol. ("69" is a sex act, for any other young 'uns wondering what it means.) | |
| Pink Floyd – Run Like Hell Lyrics | 8 years ago |
| @[IMJM4371:23756] Oh jeez, he's just trolling us. Even if he truly hates The Wall, he doesn't deserve to be shot. Maybe just locked in a room and made to listen to The Wall again and again until he gets it. Wait... first, traumatize him, THEN make him listen to The Wall again and again. It also helps if you get a deep buzz going and then listen to Hey You and Comfortably Numb about 20 times in a row. You can't help but love this album if you really listen to it, especially if you can relate to the feeling of isolation and insanity Roger sings about. People who try very hard to be as normal and socially acceptable as possible probably don't *want* to relate to this album. It scares them too much. | |

| Really great interpretation, thanks! I wasn't thinking about "the fields where I once played" as a possible sexual reference until I read your post. And then I watched the video and it was very obvious by his expression that, at least in the second half of the song, that's exactly what he was talking about. That's the sexiest up and down glance I've ever seen a man give someone. Damn, Sting! I bet she took you back! | |

| I watched the video after reading your comment. For the first half, I was thinking "what's so awesome about him standing there playing and singing in black and white?" I nearly stopped watching. I skipped ahead though and saw where he's singing "this prison has now become your home," and the camera is now close enough to his face to see his expressions. I don't think I've ever seen anything sexier than when he sings, "I recognize the fields where I once played," as he glances up and down at his imagined ex-wife's body. WOW! SEXY! If she didn't take him back after that, he must have seriously done some damage. I don't think most women could resist a guy who can look at you that way. I really loved all the facial expressions in the last half of the video. I wish they'd stayed close up on him during the first half as well. Thanks for telling me to watch it. :) | |

My mistake... "Violence is the last refuge...", not "first". I suppose there's no edit option here. |

This song is a long-time favorite of mine, although the meaning changed for me over time. In 1992, my ex-boyfriend stabbed a man to death and went to prison. He'll be released this year (2013). Over 20 years of his life was wasted away in prison, while another man's life was taken, because he couldn't or wouldn't control his rage. He dragged me into the murder that night by calling me repeatedly during the hours it took to end this man's life with his horrendous, bloody massacre. When I was a child, my father often quoted Isaac Asimov, "Violence is the first refuge of the incompetent." So for me, this final act clinched Dad's lifetime's argument. The part about being "born beneath an angry star" is really touching to me, as I believe there are people who truly cannot control their rage due to some kind of brain damage or genetic issue. My ex was one of those people. Whether the murder was his "final act" of violence remains to be seen. "If blood will flow when flesh and steel are one, Drying in the color of the evening sun, Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away, But something in our minds will always stay. Perhaps this final act was meant To clinch a lifetime's argument, That nothing comes from violence, and nothing ever could. For all those born beneath an angry star, Lest we forget how fragile we are..." |

| Billy Idol – White Wedding Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Yeah, they're idiots because if Billy Idol was molesting his sister he would definitely go on TV and admit that to the world, right? There's no reason at all that he would want to hide that from the public. | |
| Phil Collins – In The Air Tonight Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Alright, so it's not about a murder and some guy drowning, even though we all love that story... It's probably about his wife having an affair. In the video, there's a scene where Phil is sitting in a chair in a room. He sees the silhouette of a man outside the window. Phil leaves his body behind and astral-projects to the window to watch the man. I think what happened was that Phil was on tour... he missed his wife, so he had a spontaneous out-of-body experience and went to see her. He witnessed her sleeping or making out with another man. When Phil returns home, his wife pretends like the guy is just hired help and nothing more (he was a painter/decorator, according to the London Times). She introduces the two men and Phil already knows his wife has slept with the guy, so he's telling him in his mind, "I've seen your face before my friend, but I don't know if you know who I am. But I was there and I saw what you did. I saw it with my own two eyes... so you can wipe off that grin... I know where you've been... it's all been a pack of lies (pow-pow-pa-pow-pa-POW-pa-pow-POW-POW-POW!) lol, I had to include the drums, of course. What he feels "coming in the air" is the breakup that's about to happen since he knows she's already having an affair with the painter. Or maybe he feels like he's going to turn violent because he can't take all the lies anymore. While I realize my astral-projection theory is a little bit out there, we're talking about the guy who wrote "No Son of Mine", which is the story of the abuse that happened in his childhood home. My husband learned to astral project as a child when his parents were violently fighting as he lay in bed. He would project to the living room and watch them. So it's very possible that Phil is able to do it too. I've also had out-of-body experiences. It actually happens to a lot of people. |

There's a mistake in the lyrics on this line: "You'll want to make a change if you won't" I'm not sure what the line says exactly, but it's closer to what the other commenter wrote in their lyrics: "and why'd I make a change if you won't?" |

| Culture Club – Karma Chameleon Lyrics | 14 years ago |

notthattartagain has the same interpretation that I had. "Come and go" is actually "cum and go" (screw and chew, so-to-speak). Jon Moss was using Boy George for sex, pretending to be his boyfriend, but he wasn't gay enough to commit (or just didn't like George enough), so he would string George along. When he was ready to ditch him (probably after receiving oral sex), he would start a fight, say some nasty words, and take off. Jon is a "chameleon" because when he's with women he acts straight, and when he's with gay men, he acts gay. He's basically a sociopath who does what he needs to in order to be the center of attention and get what he wants from people. Obviously, if you want to be featured in more videos, you'd want to be George's boyfriend and you'll probably end up with more camera time that way. You also get more attention in public if you show up next to George. If you've watched any of the programs ("Behind the Music" or whatever) about this band, the song is fairly easy to understand. I was shocked by all the people who didn't seem to understand that Boy George was gay. I mean, he's dressed as a drag queen in all of his videos. People in the 80's also didn't seem to notice that Freddie Mercury was gay, but when I saw the old concert footage of him running around the stage in those tiny white shorts and no shirt on, I really hadn't ever seen anything gayer (not even Boy George was as gay as THAT). It's amazing what people can believe if they bury their head in the sand deep enough. |
