Sorry - but "Whispering Jesse" was NOT written about Denver's daughter!!! It was written from the name of a ski run in Colorado - named Whispering Jesse!! "Whispering Jesse" the song - was recorded on Denver's "Higher Ground" album in 1989 - his daughter (Jesse Belle Denver) was born May 18, 1989 and the song was released September 29, 1989. Denver KNEW is unborn child was a girl (he went through invetro get get his wife Cassandra pregnant as he was 100% sterile - she had Jesse EXACTLY 9 months after their wedding in August 1988) - so the daughter Jesse was named after the song!!!! He also mentioned the name "Jesse" in 3 previous songs - starting in 1971 - (first line of the song "Lady's Chains" is "Jesse went away last summer - couple of months ago") so I'd say it was a favorite name of his and his daughter was named after the song!!!!!!!!!! |
