I see it that the song is written from the perspective of a man walking through a graveyard, or one in his head, that contains his past loves. He lingers on the subject of a particular one, a woman who he knew from a distance, who wanted to ride through life with him, the travel to meet her used his money and kept him thin, used up his 'wick' of life. |
