The Who – You Better You Bet Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is presumably about a rock 'n roll relationship (either between two rockstars or one rockstar and someone who waits at home). He describes the rock n roll lifestyle and how it affects his relationship - e.g 'my voice too rough with cigarettes' and 'I sometimes think I should just go home'.
It's obviously a very sexual relationship - You welcome me with open arms and open legs' - and when they see each other its for such a short time that most of it is spent passionately. Therefore when he says 'I love you' she says 'you'd better!' because otherwise their relationship would be JUST sexual, instead of a romantic relationship that simply isn't granted much of a chance due to long distance.

Black Veil Brides – The Mortician's Daughter Lyrics 14 years ago
Yeah...I think its kinda obvious that its a love ballad. He wrote it for scout when he was younger, but she cheated on him. So, anyway...this is my interpretation...

I open my lungs dear
I sing this song at funerals...no rush. (shes a mortitian’s daughter, so he sings this song at occasions that are common for her. But also, hes saying that this is a sad song for a sad occasion....)
These lyrics heard a thousand times, just plush. (like i love you, he’s said this a lot but it still retains the same meaning it once had)
A baby boy you've held so tightly, this pain it visits almost nightly (maybe he’s just using this as a sort of allegory...pretending that shes now got a baby with the other man, and the pain of that is always with him. Alternately he could be (which is more likely) talking about himself, saying she once held him and it hurts that she’s gone)
Missing hotel beds I feel your touch. (actually not entirely sure, the hotel beds cud be referring to the baby part...or maybe he just felt like putting it in coz it feels sad??)

I will wait dear, a patient of eternity, my crush
A universal still. (he’ll live in the memory (- a universal still) of how it was, not how it is now, and wait for a time when he can once again feel that way)
No rust. (nothing to damage that memory)
No dust will ever grow in this frame, (same again)
one million years I will say your name. (he’s always going to be thinking about her and cant move on)
I love you more than I can ever scream. (he loves her — duh)

We booked our flight those years ago, (i think he just means this as ‘we parted many years ago’, whether or not they actually did fly away from each other doesn’t matter)
I said I love you as I left you. (he knew he still loved her even as he told her he couldn’t be with her after what she did)
Regrets still haunt my hollow head, but I promised you I will see you again, again. (he still regrets what happened, and he told her that, don’t worry, they’ll see each other again. He’s not going to block her entirely he just cant love her the way he once did anymore. Also, he needs some time before he can see her again)

I sit here and smile dear
I smile because I think of you and blush. (remembering the memories — ‘smile and blush’ because of the feelings he has and possibly also because of some embarrassing, funny moments they’ve had together)
These bleeding hollow dials...this fuss.
A fuss is made of miles and travels when roadways are but stones and gravel. (the ‘fuss’ (problems/tension) is because they are so far away from each other (both emotionally and literally)
A bleeding heart and conquer every crutch. (bleeding heart — broken heart, crutch? Maybe referring to a disability and saying his heart can conquer it?)

We booked our flight those years ago
you said you loved me as you left me. Regrets still haunt your saddened head but I promised you I will see you,
We booked our flight those years ago
I said I loved you and I left you
Regrets no longer in my head, (he’s moved on, at least enough...)
I promised you and now I'm home again, again, again, again, again. (...and has had enough time to move on so he can see her again and they can be friends, as he promised)

I'm home again. (duh, he’s back)

I hope you agree, at least vaguely, or this helped you at least form your own opinions...remember though, its a song so not every line has to have a hidden meaning, its just him expressing his emotions in a hard time of his life. This is an utterly beautiful song. I luvvvv it :’)

The Verve – The Drugs Don't Work Lyrics 14 years ago
this song is soo sad. its definitely about someone he loves dying, and even medicine cannot save them. I didn't know it was written for his father, i thought it was for his wife/lover, but if ashcroft said it was 4 his father then i guess it is. The true story's almost more depressing than the songg :'(
