My favorite song off the self titled album, which is amazing by the way. His lyrics carry so much weight, his voice makes that weight even heavier. Unbelievable talent, very emotionally charged, tasteful music on every one of their albums. |

this theme comes up again in High Violet on Anyone's Ghost, "...you're home with the flu...found out from friends, that wasn't true." sounds like he is following her around manhattan, stalking her, being a creep cause she is so untrustworthy and is a liar.

this is my favorite line in the song.....you know the expression, "that isn't going to hold water" or something like that.....I think it is a freaking BRILLIANT way of him saying, "everything you say is a lie." Cause her words have no integrity, no substance, just lies.....they don't hold water....everything she says is a lie, and doesn't hold water, there is water under all of her words. Beautiful image. |

For me, this song is about losing close friends because you dicked them over and there is no way to repair it.....worst part is, you still see them all the time around the city, and you're an outsider now, a creep, and you no longer belong.....unmagnificent lives of adults.....best line of this song. Best Band Ever. |

I know this song is about a girl, but for me it was about a band I played with in Boston for a year. It was a bad break up, and whenver I hear this song, I have terrible memories but in a way, it is so comforting to get lost in this song, thinking of the past. Hard to put into words, but this is a powerful song from a great band.... |
