For the line - "Oh, my vote is as red as my blood," - this is a reference to how people used to vote in some of the books I have read set around the 1800-1900's people vote by putting coloured items into a box and in some of the books I have read such as '100 years of solitude' a red item means a vote for the liberal party and a blue item means a vote for the conservatives. So this perhaps means that this song is set somewhere like Columbia in the 1800's/1900's, maybe not it could just be those lines. Also just before the line 'my vote is as red as my blood' the song goes 'Tell me your thoughts on liberty'. I think confirms what I wrote about it being a reference to voting. Sorry if someone already said this, if they did I couldn't see it. |

| Cursive – Into the Fold Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| It seams that people have figured out the songs general meaning but some people believe he rapped the girl at the end others believe she had sex with him. I think its obvious that what he is doing is immortal, he is tricking young women but he definitely did not rape her because of this part 'She agreed to a cup of coffee That's when I startd to lay it on heavy Once she learned I studied Dostoevsky, it was in the bag'. That paints a weird and unethical image in my mind of him and her laughing and conversing while he pretends to be friendly. But if it were rape he would not need to woo her and the fact that he said 'Once she learned I studied Dostoevsky, it was in the bag' certainly means, in my opinion, that he had to be cunning and seduce her, if he were going to rape her he wouldn't need to get her 'in the bag' by conversing and charming her. | |
| Armor for Sleep – The Truth About Heaven Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
This is the part of the song that interests me most and alot of people have commented on it "Found my way back in the dark tonight, Couldn't wake up, not right next to you, I traded forever to just hear you say the sound of my name" I think that he returned to earth as a ghost as everyone knows to see his ex girlfriend but when he goes to see her he leaves when she goes to sleep because he did not want to wake up next to her. Then when he sings the line I traded forever to just hear you say the sound of my name i think he walking back to his grave and he is muttering to himself I traded heaven and i did not even wake up next to her i just got to hear her see my name maybe he is wondering if it was worth it and if he made a mistake. I dont know if this made sense to anyone its hard to describe. Amazing song. |

| La Dispute – A Broken Jar Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I think this song is about a man who knocks over a jar, he tries to put it back together with tape but he thinks that the cracks will still show so he decides just to throw the pieces away and then go watch TV or something , but he gets a little too emotional about breaking a little jar if you ask me. | |
| The Receiving End Of Sirens – Pale Blue Dot Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Pale Blue dot was a picture taken long ago of space and in the photo earth is barely visible, it is a tiny spec it makes you realise that all of mans achievements, every government, every war , every economic and natural disaster amounts to nothing in the grand scheme of things and when mankind is gone (if i had to guess i would say 350 years tops) it will be like we never existed we are a spec of dust on the universe so when you wonder about a descion remember it doesn't matter, nothing anyone has done matters. Just be grateful we exist mankind is a mistake by the universe made possible by millions of random odds. soon earth will be moving away from the centre of the universe (where the big bang occurred) at the speed of light that is how big the universe is and how much bigger it gets. I believe in something after death , im certainly not religious but i used to think that anything after death is impossible but life is impossible and everything is impossible because it needs a cause, nothing can come from nothing which it must have because here you are at you computer. The only thing that we can assume is impossible is 'nothingness' its too hard to explain but im an intelligent kid and i believe in life after death so dont feel too bad about death. Wow i got sidetracked. | |
| La Dispute – Fall Down, Never Get Back Up Again Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| My favourate song, it is based on the poem 'Annabeel Lee' by Edgar Allen Poe, and it links with the song they made called 'three', in the song three, (which you can find on youtube) he acualy uses loads of the same lines as Poe did in the poem, you can find the poem by typing annabell lee into google. Before i looked on here i thought in the first stanza it was the boy (the singer) who was telling the girl 'there is so much beauty in a storm' and all the other dialog and i still do think it is the singer saying it. | |
| La Dispute – Andria Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
'I remember you ascending all the stairs up to the balcony To see if you could see me hidden quietly away And I remember the skin of your fingers The spot three quarters up I'd always touch when I was out of things to say You held my hand but you were too afraid to speak You were too afraid to speak And I could never understand I remember when you leaned in close to kiss me And I swear not a single force on earth could stop the trembling of my hand' Probably the best paragraphy of music ever created in my opion. |
