I know how I remember this song is nothing close to its actual interpretation, but this is what always plays in my mind. About two years ago a friend of mine got pregnant by this guy she was friends w/benefits with, and showed up at my house at 2 in the morning bawling her eyes. Trouble is, she actually had deeper feelings for him...and she wasn't the only girl he was playing. "The cloud is over my head. My polyamorous friend, He got me in a mess of trouble again" My friend didn't have the heart to go through with an abortion, and I didn't want to force her either. But when I asked her why she hadn't been a little more careful, she said she thought 'nothing would happen' (I facepalmed a little inside at that). "Just when you think that you're all right I'm calling out from the inside. I never heard anyone, I never listen at all." Then when she told him, he told her to fuck off...and not to bother trying to have anything to do with him ever again. "Just stay away from the white light, I'd say your worst side's your best side..." Now my friend has an adorable 1 and a half year old son, and suprise suprise, she hasn't heard from that idiot since. Last I heard, he's still playing. So, this song does kind of have a negative connection for me, but at the same time it reminds me of something absolutely wonderful that happened as a result- i.e., my friend's son <3 :) |
