This song seems to be about the movie "Monster" (starring Charlize Theron), about the female serial kiler Aileen Wournos. There is an important scene in that movie on a ferris wheel, which is where that line comes from . It's maybe written from the perspective of Aileen's girlfriend/partner (played by Christina Ricci in the film) "People are screaming (her victims)." "I'm waiting for the feeling when she comes". So basically, while the Christina RIcci character is pining for her lover, her lover is out killing people. "I see Monsters" refers the Wournos' psychotic disturbance (also the title of the movie, "monster", I assume also a book). "I see monsters" line could be from either character's perspective, it seems like Adams like to switch perspectives mid-song. Surprised nobody else has had this interpretation. |

I wonder if this song is about the character "Candy" from season two of the show rescue me (Spoiler alert). Candy lures one of the fireman into a relationship. The character ultimately discovers that Candy is not really who she says she is and the relationship was never really what he thought it was. Candy turns out to be a scam artist and the whole relationship turns out to have been a fraud all along. "I Was never here. I was never here at all. . . I was never yours, you were never mine. . . ." |
