Sleater-Kinney – Dig Me Out Lyrics 7 years ago
In Carrie's autobiography she says that most of Corin's lyrics on this album were either about their breakup (Corin and Carrie had previously been romantically involved) or about Corin's new relationship with Lance Bangs, who she would go on to marry.

So I think this is about wanting Lance to dig her out of the emotional turmoil caused by Carrie breaking up with her.

On second thought I guess it's about tacos.

Fake Problems – ADT Lyrics 13 years ago
I think this song is about being nervous to be out with a bunch of people when you don't know anyone. You'd like to be social but you're heart is beating through your chest and you feel tempted to just go home and watch tv so you can be comfortable.

The Flatliners – Count Your Bruises Lyrics 14 years ago
This song is about being inspired by San Francisco, and accepting the ups and downs of life to make the most of it.

I really like these lines:
"and the world exhales..." (Night falls, normally a time to relax and slow down) "...and none of us can even stand still!" (But instead the singer and his friends are running around seeking new and exciting experiences all night).

I don't know what "Chicago rooftops will take me away from the ugly city" means - anyone have an idea? The 405 is a highway near Los Angeles, a little ways south of San Fransisco. I suspect the "ugly city" is LA, as contrasted with the beautiful San Fran. But no idea what Chicago has to do with anything.

The Menzingers – Richard Coury Lyrics 14 years ago
The song and poem are about the idea that money and material success are not a guaranteed road to a happy life. Also, it's a comment on the difference between outside appearances and true feelings (moreso in the poem than the song).

Just to add to AllChokedUp's comment: according to Wikipedia, the band spelled it Coury rather than Cory because of "a personal friend whose last name is Coury."

I posted these lyrics here a couple weeks ago and I just saw that they've already been spammed around to a bunch of lyric sites. Interesting.

The Menzingers – Time Tables Lyrics 14 years ago
Bad Religion doesn't have any songs about two lovers in the thick of the summer.

Maybe it was "Don't Stop Believin." :)

The Menzingers – Lilith Avi Lyrics 14 years ago
I've been trying to figure out what this one's about. Here is my take.

The stanza beginning "Hey little girl..." gives the impression that the songwriter's former best friend dated and married a very religious girl, and this led to the ending of the friendship. I would say this is the core idea of the song, and the reason it was written. The rest of the song consists of criticisms and jokes about extreme beliefs, with some obvious biblical imagery.

I think "The gods are pickin' steel on the radio" refers to old heavy metal bands (Maiden, Priest) which represent one extreme (anti-religious), as opposed to the fire and brimstone preachers who are on the other extreme. The "story untold" line refers to the idea that the real truth of the matter has yet to be discovered.

I'm not sure about the "busy on a cell phone closing the deal" line - maybe it refers to a specific detail of the falling out between the former friends.
