Electric Wizard – Vinum Sabbathi Lyrics 10 years ago
Not about a bad trip at all. Very immediately and descriptively about heroin/opiates. "Black" is how black tar heroin is known. "awake" to a "freezing moon", poetic description of the freezing inferno withdrawal puts you in, and which you are most aware of as you languish unable to sleep. Nevermind the last verse, which is even more overt.

Song's definitely a trip, but you'd be small to say it's "about drugs".

The argument that this song is about heroin has nothing to do with whether or not it's common slang. You should look up "metaphor"; it's a powerful literary device.

About opium (or derivative) if you ask me. "I'd give you everything I've got", description of mellow insomnia, not wanting to pollute his high with alcohol (notice the emphasis placed on "no no no") all agree with addict behavior. The 3-week time scale makes sense - he hasnt accepted that his addiction is serious yet, thus the argument with whoever he's calling.

Whoever he mentions wanting to talk to is somehow associated with his drug's supply. Could be calling his dealer for another fix, or someone else he wants to beg money from - either would think he's putting them on, his desperation having developed in such a short time.

I think the cigarette mention is just an aside, since junkies tend to be addicted to cigs as well as H to avoid sobriety, and the anger at someone who died 300 years ago is there to indicate how irrational the drugs are making him.

Maybe an overinterpretation, but it doesn't seem like a coincidence to me that warm gun and this song appear to be such overtures to heroin.
